Kreeri, August 23: The election storm has not only hit Kashmir, but the political landscape is continuously evolving. In this process, when we talk about the Wagoora Assembly seat, it is already showing signs of a fierce contest.
Kashmir Despatch has surveyed the ground and, according to that, the main emerging candidates for this seat are the previous election’s winning candidates of DDC – Safeena Beigh, Advocate Irfan Hafeez Lone, the recent Ghar Wapsi (Homecoming) of Syed Basharat Bukhari (PDP), Shabir Ahmad Shah (Apni Party), journalist-turned-politician Suhail Bukhari who left PDP, Mohammad Yaqoob Wani (NC), and Lone Aijaz likely to be the AIP candidate. These main players are currently fighting for the seat.
Based on the ground survey, Kashmir Despatch found that the Wagoora Seat is going to witness a fierce competition between these key candidates in the upcoming assembly election.
Political analysts who spoke to Kashmir Despatch stated that the focus this time will be on the Ghar Aaye Wapas (Homecoming) candidate Syed Basharat Bukhari of PDP. Advocate Irfan Hafeez Lone will also be closely watched in this race.
According to the analysts, a close and healthy competition is expected between these two candidates for the Wagoora seat.
While trying to gather information about the ground situation for Safina Beigh and others, Kashmir Despatch found that Safina Beigh is currently contesting for the third position in this competition. Suhail Bukhari, who has not yet decided which party to join, is not performing as well.
Meanwhile, sources told Kashmir Despatch that Safina Beigh is facing struggles on the ground, as people are not satisfied with her performance and are alleging that she has failed to meet their expectations. However, there is a possibility of a change in people’s decision in this election.
Now, it remains to be seen which leader the people will vote for to secure victory.
Sources close to Advocate Irfan Hafeez Lone informed Kashmir Despatch that Irfan has a very strong base compared to the PDP leader in this election on the Wagoora seat.
Sources mentioned that Irfan not only worked diligently during his tenure as a DDC member but also exceeded people’s expectations in terms of assistance. Therefore, in a comparison between Safina and Irfan, Irfan is expected to have a strong base due to his work.
Jammu and Kashmir assembly election to be held on September 18, 25 and October 1. Results will be declared on October 4.
