Ganderbal, September 1: A copperware shop in the Duderhama area of Ganderbal was targeted by burglars during the night, with the suspects allegedly breaking through a side wall to enter the premises and making off with copper items.
The incident was reported from the vicinity of the Clock Tower, where the shop belonging to Nazir Ahmad Bhat, son of Abdul Rashid Bhat, a resident of Fatehpora, Ganderbal, was allegedly broken into.
According to the shopkeeper, the intruders created an opening in the wall on the right side of the establishment and used it to gain access to the shop.
Several copper articles were subsequently found missing.No cash was reported to have been stolen in the incident.
The burglary was discovered by the shopkeeper, who subsequently informed the police.
Following the complaint, police registered a case and launched an investigation to trace those responsible for the break-in.
Investigators are examining the circumstances of the incident and working to establish the identity of the suspects.
The incident has raised security concerns among traders operating in the area. Shopkeepers have called for stronger night-time surveillance, regular patrolling and installation of CCTV cameras around busy commercial locations to deter similar incidents.
