Srinagar, July 17 : Amid the scorching heat, residents of central Kashmir’s Rezwan Gund in Ganderbal district are experiencing an acute shortage of drinking water.
The residents of Rezan village of Gund tehsil are up in arms against the Jal Shakti department as they are facing shortage of drinking water from last 12 days.
Locals told Kashmir Despatch that drinking water has been severe in the local town for last 12 days, due to which people are forced to use contaminated water from rivers.
A local Javed Ahmad told Kashmir Despatch that We have no drinking water for past twelve days. The department has turned a blind eye towards the basic problems being faced by people of the area. He further said that if he contacted the employees of concerned department but they said that they are deployed on yatra duty.
The residents lamented that they were go out to streams for drinking water creates crowd there, more chances of Spread of deadly Virus.
Locals appealed concerned department to restore drinking water in their area so that they don’t have to face further difficulties.
Meanwhile an official at Jal Shakti department told Kashmir Despatch that department is looking into the issue and soon matter will be resolved. He said in these two months there is chances of problems in some areas however our efforts are on to redress the issue at earliest.
