Chanchamarg Village in the Shopian district of South Kashmir is currently facing a dire water shortage that has severely impacted the lives of its residents. Despite efforts by the government through the Jal Jeevan Mission to provide tap water to every household, the village continues to struggle with a lack of proper drinking water supply. As a result, the villagers are left with no choice but to rely on unsafe water sources, such as nearby streams, to meet their daily drinking needs.
Reports reaching Kashmir Despatch said that one of the primary factors contributing to this water shortage is the absence of water pipelines in the village. Without the necessary infrastructure, the locals are compelled to fetch unfiltered water from nearby streams, putting their health and well-being at significant risk. The villagers have expressed their frustration with the Jal Shakti Department for not installing the required infrastructure to ensure clean and safe drinking water for the community.
Taj Mohd, a resident of Chanchamarg Village, has taken the initiative to voice the concerns of the villagers regarding the lack of access to safe drinking water. He urges the authorities to take immediate action and address this pressing issue. The villagers themselves are fervently appealing to the concerned department to take swift action and restore the drinking water facility in their area.
The situation in Chanchamarg Village serves as a poignant reminder of the challenges faced by the villagers in obtaining safe and reliable drinking water. The water shortage not only jeopardizes the health of the villagers but also hampers their overall quality of life.
Meanwhile, the villagers again appealed to the concerned authorities to look into the issue so that they would not suffer more.
