Srinagar Aug 6 : A day after suspected militants shot dead an elected village head, the president of Sarpanch Association in Ganderbal said that the village heads are voted to power even by the families of militants.
On the sidelines of a function in this central Kashmir district, Nazir Ahmad Raina, who is the President of Sarpanch Association here, asked: why are militants killing us?
Raina said: “we are elected by the families of militants”.
“We are for the betterment of people, we are the followers of people of Kashmir,” Raina said after militants attacked two village heads in Kashmir valley in the past 48 hours.
In one of the attacks in Kulgam, a Panch was killed on the spot after suspected militants shot at him from a point-blank range.
“My question is why do families members of militants vote for in Panchayat election,” Raina asked.(GNS)
