Wildlife Central Control Room Seizes Gun Used in ‘Poaching’ of Migratory Birds

Srinagar, Mar 23: Wildlife Central Control Room in an operation has claimed to have seized a single barrel gun, two live cartridges, two plastic decoys and a knife during a night operation in Ahsar lake of Nesbal Sumbal in central Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

An official said that on receipt of a specific information regarding poaching activity taking place in respect of migratory birds within the Ahsar lake, the control room constituted a team to carry out an on-spot raid.

However the miscreants taking advantage of the darkness managed to escape the spot on arrival of the team. “A hunt has been launched to nab the culprits”, the official said.

Wildlife Central Control Room, according to the official, is headed by Range Officer Wildlife is based at Wetlands Division Srinagar and works in joint coordination with Forest Protection Force and Wildlife Department. (GNS)
