Will hang myself in public if AAP proves I am behind pamphlet filth: Gambhir

Date:

Cricketer-turned-politician Gautam Gambhir has said if charges against him are proved, he will hang himself in public.

Gambhir’s remarks came  a day after the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) accused him of being involved in the distribution of “obscene and derogatory” pamphlets against Atishi,

Taking to Twitter on Friday, the BJP’s East Delhi candidate, Gautam Gambhir, dared Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to prove charges against him or quit.

Gautam Gambhir, in a series of tweets, said he is “ashamed” to have Arvind Kejriwal as chief minister and he would withdraw his candidature if the charge against him is proved.

He also said he would file a defamation case against Aam Aadmi Party leaders for tarnishing his image. “You can’t tarnish someone’s image without proof. I have never given a negative statement against any opposition candidate in my election campaigning,” he said in a press statement.

Gambhir wrote on Twitter, “I abhor your act of outraging a woman’s modesty @ArvindKejriwal and that too your own colleague. And all this for winning elections? U r filth Mr CM and someone needs ur very own jhaadu to clean ur dirty mind(sic).”
“My Challenge no.2 @ArvindKejriwal @AtishiAAP I declare that if its proven that I did it, I will withdraw my candidature right now. If not, will u quit politics?(sic)” he said in another tweet.

Atishi on Friday once again slammed Gautam Gambhir for failing to condemn the “sickening” note.

“If he [Arvind Kejriwal] can prove that I have anything to do with this pamphlet filth, then I will hang myself in public. Otherwise @ArvindKejriwal should quit politics. Accepted?” Gautam Gambhir tweeted.
