Sopore : Police in north Kashmir’s Sopore busted a drug smuggling gang and arrested five members including a woman kingpin of its gang.
As per Kashmir Despatch Correspondent, senior superintendent of police Sopore, Shabir Nawab while addressing the media said that on specific information regarding the drug module in the town, he said police earlier in the first week of March arrested two persons of Tarzoo Sopore.
The officer said both were put behind the bars and accordingly Fir was registered.
He said after this FIR police started further investigation into this lead and accordingly we came to know about the involvement of more people in this drug gang.
He said during further investigation names of two kingpins identified as Urooj daughter of Mohammad Muzzafar Bhat of Batapora Sopore and Mohammad Ashraf Mir son of Late Farooq Ahmed Mir of Hathishah Sopore also surfaced.
“The duo was involved in supplying drugs from outside valley to Sopore and other areas. On the confession of arrested persons, we managed to arrest the duo from Srinagar outskirts along with 1648 capsules. With their arrest we have managed to bust a major interstate module”, he said.

01.FIR LODGED ON 01-03-2023 TWO PERSONS NAMELY TANVEER AHMAD SHAH S/O MUSHTAQ AHMAD SHAH R/O SEER JAGIR SOPORE AND JAVID AHMAD SHAH S/0 GH MOHD SHAH R/0 PARRY MOHALLA SOPORE WAS APPREHENDED ALONG WITH 3512 TABLETS OF SPASMOPROXVYVON PLUS CAPSULES.
DURING INVESTIGATION THEY REVEALED THAT SOME 0THER PERsONS ARE SELLING THESE ILLEGAL SUBSTANCES IN SOPORE.ON 10TH MARCH ONE MORE DRUG PEDDLER NAMELY AMIR SADEEQ PARRA S/O MOHD SADEEQ PARA R/O CHANDOOSA BARAMULLA WAS APPREHENDED AND 112 TABLETS WERE RECOVERED FROM HIS POSSESSION.
DURING THE INVESTIGATION OF THE CASE IT WAS FOUND THAT TWO PERSONS NAMELY MST. UROOJ D/O MOHD MUZAFFAR BHAT R/O BATPORA SOPORE AND (3) MOHD ASHRAF MIR S/O LATE FARO00 MIR R/0 HATHISHAH SOPORE ARE SUPPLYING THESE CONTRABNAD SUBSTANCES FROM oUT SIDE STATES TO THE SOPORE AND ADJACENT AREAS.AS PER THE cONFESSION FROM THE ARRESTED PERSONS SEARCH WERE STARTED TO BUST THE MODULE OF DRUG MAFIA FOR SUPPLYING DRUGS FROM OUTSIDE STATES TO THE SOPORE .0N 08-04- 2023 ON THE INFORMATION THESE TwO KINPINS ARRESTED FROM OUTSKIRTS OF SRINAGAR AREA AND 1648 CAPSULES WERE RECOVERED FROM THEIR POSSESSION.
BY ARRESTING THOSE PERSONS POLICE HAVE SUCCESSFULLY BUSTED THE MODULE WHO WERE SUPPLYING DRUGS TO THE SOPORE AREA ALL ACCUSED PERSONS WEx`RE ARRESTED.
FURTHER, SOME MORE ARRESTS AND RECOVERIES ARE TO BE EXPECTED THE statement reads.
