BARAMULLA, SEPTEMBER 14: As part of the World First Aid Day being observed throughout the world on September 14, a daylong function with the theme ‘1st Aid for Excluded People’ was today organized here at Dak Bungalow with Secretary General Red Cross Society (RCS) J&K Kifayat Hussain Rizvi as the chief guest.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla Dr G N Itoo, Principal GMC B’la, CMO, CEO, Medical Superintendent DH B’la, various district and sectoral officers, volunteers, students, safai karamcharis and others concerned attended the function.
On the occasion, a series of lectures and demonstrations were delivered by the resource persons who highlighted the need and significance of observing the day and stressed for imparting the requisite training especially among the First responders.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest emphasized for disseminating awareness among various sections and exhorted upon the need to impart qualitative training for saving precious human lives. He said that several programmes are being organized by the society with an aim to educate various stakeholders especially students who can act as better first responders.
Dr Itoo, who was the guest of honour at the event complimented the participants and urged upon them to educate others too. He said that special training programmes shall be organized at various spots of public importance so that the necessary training is imparted among the first responders.
A special demonstration was organized by a team of specialists who acquainted the participants about the requite necessities in case of exigencies.
Awards were distributed among the volunteers who recorded their exemplary performance in case of eventualities in the district.
Earlier, the Secretary General in presence of DC inaugurated a blood donation camp, which was organized by District Hospital. The camp marked the participation of eminent citizens, volunteers and other prominent sections of the society.
