Bandipora, Oct 01: The residents of Kanyari village of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district have boycotted assembly polls grappling with landlessness and basic facilities.
Speaking with the media, local residents of Kanyari said that they have voted since 1951 but their grievances were never fulfilled. “We only see our leaders in times of elections; after that they never visit our area’s,”.
He also said that boycotting elections is the only way to raise their voices.
Another local resident said that they are living in hell. “For years we were promised that we would be given 5 malras of land to build our houses but that promise was never fulfilled,”.
Meanwhile District election officer Bandipora Dr Manzoor Ahmad Qadri said that the people have some apprehensions regarding the development. “We are in communication with them and working to resolve their issues,”
