Army Sunday laid to rest with military honours the soldiers of Ladakh Scouts at their native villages, Lakjung and Nimu, in Leh district. The army men had died in an avalanche while on a patrol in the Siachen area of Ladakh region on January 3. An army spokesman in a statement said that the brave martyrs Havaldar Tsewang Norboo and Sep Jigmat Chosdup were laid to rest with full military honours. Two other army men, Sepoy Mohammad Yousuf and Havaldar Dorjay Gyaltson, also of the Scouts, too had died in the same avalanche. “Sepoy Mohammad Yousuf was earlier laid to rest in his native village Aihampur of District Kargil on January 6 with full military honours, while the funeral of Havaldar Dorjay Gyaltson is planned tomorrow at his native village Taingyar on Agam axis in Nubra area,” the spokesman said.
