Kupwara, Feb 01 (GNS): Non-availability of an ambulance at Lalpora hospital in frontier district of Kupwara sparked off strong protest demonstrations in the area on Friday.

According to witnesses, a patient suffering from heart ailment was immediately taken to the local hospital NTPHC Lalpora Lolab during the intervening night of Thursday and Friday.

They said that soon after reaching the hospital neither X-ray technician was available nor the driver of the ambulance was present in the hospital.

Locals said only two paramedical staff were present but they were too helpless because of non-availability of doctors.

The two staffers suggested the attendants of the patient to refer him to SDH Sogam or DH Kupwara.

But when they (attendants) told the paramedical staff to provide them ambulance service, they replied that neither the Ambulance nor it’s driver is present.

Shouting slogans against the BMO Sogam, local residents said that despite the ambulance being reserved for Lalpora but due to unknown reasons BMO Sogam is always directing it’s driver to keep the Ambulance in Sogam.

Residents of Lalpora demanded action against the BMO Sogam for his “rude behaviour”.

They demanded an immediate transfer of BMO Sogam from the block.

Sub-Divisional magistrate Lolab Ahmad Hussain while pacifying the agitated people said that he will put forth the demands of residents before the deputy commissioner Kupwara and Chief Medical Officer Kupwara for its immediate redressal.

Meanwhile, according to an order issued by CMO Kupwara Dr.Bilal Ahmad medical officer PHC Machil has been deputed at NTPHC lalpora till the strike of NHM Employees will end. (GNS)
