Protest in demand for long-pending repartition

Ladakh, Apr 01 : Most of the departmental work in Ladakh region got affected on Thursday after around 150 non-local employees went on for three days pen down strike in demand for long-pending repartition.
The employees said that the government is turning a blind eye from their assured repartition despite repeated intimations at different platforms for the past three years.
The employees of different government-run departments were transferred to Ladakh before the reorganization of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.
Talking to news agency (KNO) employees said that the administration of both the Union Territories has left them to suffer even after completion of their tenure in Ladakh.
Dr Krishn Kant, president of the non-Local employees association in Ladakh said that the pen down strike has been started across the UT including Kargil and Leh for three days.
“We have been demanding the transfer/ reparation for long now but the matter has not been solved despite approaching the authorities several times,” Kant said.
Kant said given the non-serious response from the government, three days pen down strike call was issued anonymously by the association of employees from Jammu and Kashmir working in Ladakh.
“We had already given an ultimatum to the government demanding either transfer or assurance up to 31st March but there was no positive response, thus forcing all of us to go on 3 days pen down strike,” he said.
Kant said there are around 150 non-local employees working in different departments include, Education, Planning, R&B and Health, are on strike.
“After 3 days,” he said,” that if the government through any medium assures and informs us about the repatriation then the routine work will resume but after 5 April the association has decided to hit the streets.”
Echoing similar concerns, Mohammad Ashraf General Secretary of the Association said that they are working in Ladakh for the last 4 years and administration despite repeated assurance has not fulfilled their promise.
He said that even at the time of bifurcation of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir the administration in a clause maintained that the employees will be reparted or be sent on deputation but nothing has been done on the ground.
“The Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir had recently announced that the matter will be sorted by 31st March but the inaction forced us to go for a pen-down strike,” Ashraf said—(KNO)
