Srinagar, July 22: J&K Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti Saturday took a dig at National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah, saying the third country intervention in Kashmir will make it another Syria.
Mehbooba was reacting to Farooq’s remarks wherein he had pitched for third country intervention between India and Pakistan for Kashmir resolution. “Be it America or China, they should mind their own business. You see the situation in Afghanistan, Syria and Iraq where America intervened,” she said while talking to reporters.
He asked China and America to mind their own business and asked Farooq whether he wants Kashmir situation similar to that of Syria or Iraq or he wants prosperity. The Chief Minister said that United States and other powers have played spoilsport vis-à-vis major issues that world is facing today. She urged both India and Pakistan to stick to past agreements which were signed by both countries bilaterally for resolution of their issues.
“We should take forward Shimla and Lahore agreements in the same way our elders like Indira Gandhi and Vajpayee did,” she said and asked both India and Pakistan to work for betterment of their people and end the hostility and bloodshed on borders. “We should sit together and end poverty, provide our people with electricity, water and employment,” she said. Mehbooba termed the civilian killing in Beerwah unfortunate and blamed “handful of stone-pelters” for the prevailing situation.
