YSS Organizes Variety of Sports Activities in Kashmir Division

Srinagar, March 28: The Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS), J&K, has kickstarted a fresh series of sports competitions and activities in different sports zones of Kashmir division. These activities aim to engage students and participants in various games and sports immediately following the completion of their annual examinations.


As part of the calendar, Srinagar’s Sports Zone IDGAH hosted a Tennis Ball Cricket Competition for Boys on Thursday at BHSS Nawakadal. The event witnessed an overwhelming participation of 70 participants from Zone IDGAH. Toiba Tabassum, Principal of BHSS Nawakadal, inaugurated the competition. These activities are being organized under the theme “Sports as an enabler for an inclusive and fit society.”


ZPEO Idgah, Javed Ahmad Malik, awarded the winning team, BHS Badiwuder, and the runner-up team, BHS Goripora, in the presence of ZPEO Amirakadal. The participants, along with officials, took a pledge against the drug menace and vowed to make their contribution in building a drug-free society.


Meanwhile YSS started the fresh Sports season for the year 2024 at Kulgam as well. The inaugural activity of Volleyball U-14 was launched from Zone Kulgam at Sports Stadium Kulgam. These activities are being conducted under the theme, Sports as an enabler for an inclusive and Fit Society. In today’s event more than 100 students hailing from different educational institutions of Zone Kulgam (Boys) have participated. Zonal Physical education Officer Kulgam Khursheed Ah Dar inaugurated the event.


The participants showcased their brilliant Sports skills in the inaugural matche. The participants along with the officials of YSS Kulgam swore an anti drug pledge and resolved to make Kulgam drug free. An elaborate awareness was spread amongst the participants about the significance of vote and the democratic setup under the theme, “Nothing like voting – I vote for sure.”


Youth Services and Sports (YSS) is committed to promoting sportsmanship, unity, and healthy competition among students and participants. By organizing such activities, the Department aims to encourage an active and inclusive society while nurturing the talents and potential of the youth.
