3-hours 35 minutes Long Meet at PM’s Residence

Date:

As the wild speculations about the unprecedented meeting of 14 top-notch JK leaders with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi have come to a halt now, it has become clear that Delhi is in a serious mood of restarting the political process in Jammu and Kashmir.

The duration of the meet signifies the concern and the interest of the Central Government to engage the regional J&K political parties in devising and formulating a future course of the erstwhile state.
The issue of restoration of Article-370 was not raised or deliberated by any member participants as per the reports pouring in. It is also evident from the fact that when these leaders were interviewed after the meeting had ended, none of them claimed to have raised this issue with the PM.

However, it is clear that the stress was laid on the developmental issues of J&K along with the entitlement of the people to exercise their right to vote. The Prime Minister ensured the members that soon after the process of delimitation is completed in the Union Territory of J&K, a populace government via election will be in-charge of the public affairs and their welfare.

This is a welcome step especially in regards to resolving and ending the apathetic situation of the people which has come into being due to the immense communication gap between the bureaucracy and general masses. However, the Central Government needs to take this initiative to further heights which meets the aspirations of the people of J&K on grassroots level who in the current times direly need economic packages, loan remissions and an end to spiking unemployment.
