Srinagar: Family members of three labourers from Rajouri have registered an FIR at Peeri Police Post Rajouri after their kin failed to make contact with them from last three weeks.

As per the report, Imtiaz Ahmed son of Sagar Hussain, Ibrar Ahmed, son of Bagha Khan and IbrarAhmed son of Mohammad Yousuf, left their homes on 16th July to find work in Kashmir.

Amidst the lockdown, the trio managed to reach Shopian district whereas per family, they rented a room, and purchased some essentials.
All three labours are the residents of Rajouri’s Peeri Tehsil. One of the family members said, “The last time we spoke to them was on July 17, after that we were not able to establish any contact with them.”

A social activist from Rajouri, Guftar Ahmed Chowdhary said, “The family members were apprehensive that they might have been put in quarantine given the inter-district travel and might contact soon. Days turned into weeks, and when they lost patience, they reached out to me, after which we registered the FIR.”

A senior Kashmiri journalist, Ahmed Ali Fayaz took to twitter and wrote that “all three ‘suspected militants’ killed in Amshipora Shopian ‘encounter’ on 18 July 2020, have been repeatedly identified as the missing labourers of Rajouri on basis of photographs by the families.”

Fayaz wrote that if this was the truth, then it would be the first such case (of fake encounter) after killing of 3 civilians in Machil in 2010.
SSP Shopian Amrit Paul Singh said, “We are investigating the case.”

A local news agency KNO quoting family members as saying that our demand now is that police chief DGP and IGP Kashmir should allow exhumation of bodies for DNA mapping. We are ready for cross-examinations of the samples. The photographs of the slain that have gone viral suggest trio are our children.”

Army on Monday in a statement issued to Kashmir Despatch said that we have noted social media inputs linked to the operation at Shopian on 18 Jul 2020.

Srinagar based defense spoksperson Rajesh Kalia said that the three militants killed during the operation have not been identified yet and the bodies were buried based on established protocols.
He said Army is investigating the matter.

Pertinently In a press conference  2 Sector Commander Brigadier Ajay Kotach had claimed to have killed three militants in a gunfight at Amshipora area of Shopain on 18 July 2020.
