Srinagar, Aug 10, : The BJP activist who was injured in a militant attack on Sunday in central Kashmir’s Budgam district succumbed to his injures on Monday morning.


An official told Kashmir Despatch that BJP leader Abdul Hamid Najar son of Jamal Najar resident of Moheindpora succumbed to his injures on Monday morning at SMHS hospital Srinagar.


Meanwhile, Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha expressed anguish over the killing and said that the heinous act is an attempt to spread fear and there can be no justification for such attacks.
The society does not have any space for perpetrators of violence and those involved in this cowardly act shall be brought to justice, he added.


In a condolence message, the Lt Governor has conveyed his deepest sympathies to the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.


 Bhartiya Janata Party JK spokeman Altaf Thakur in a statement also termed the killing of Hameed as inhuman and barbaric and urged police to nab the killers and work out a security plan for the BJP leaders and workers as suggested by the BJP top leaders.


Pertinently, This was third attack on a BJP leader or worker in the last five days. Earlier, a sarpanch was killed in South Kashmir’s Qazigund area on Thursday.


The attacks have created a fear among BJP workers, Panches and Sarpanches in the valley. After these attacks, several BJP workers had announced their dissociation with the party.


At least four workers of the BJP Sunday resigned from the party in Budgam.  They also sought forgiveness from the people.
Meanwhile, reports reaching Kashmir Despatch said that two more BJP workers announced their resignation from the party.


In two seperate letters lies with Kashmir Despatch both workers Abdul Majid Dar son of Ghulam Rasool Dar of Hygam Sopore and Abdul Aziz Chichi son of Abdullah Chichi of Setrina Kangan disassociated themselves from the party due to personal reasons.
