Kupwara, May 20 : The Jammu and Kashmir police in north Kashmir’s Kupwara District has collected a total count of six thousand as fine from people for not wearing masks made mandatory by government.
A police spokesperson informed to Kashmir Despatch that over the days when wearing of masks was made mandatory in entire district around six thousand rupees fine was collected from the violators for non-compliance of the order.
He said the order of wearing masks was made mandatory to contain the spread of Corona-virus outbreak that has engulfed the whole globe including the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The spokesperson said that on Wednesday a joint team collected 1500 rupees as fine from people for not wearing masks form parts of Kupwara.
He also informed that the drive will continue until the order is enforced.
Meanwhile Kupwara Police has urged the general public to wear the mask whenever coming out of homes to safeguard self from contracting the disease.
Pertinently, 101 people have so far tested positive for novel coronavirus in the entire district.
