Srinagar, Oct 05 : Around 660 grievances related to migrant properties have been redressed in the Srinagar district.

The government on September 7 launched an online portal to address the grievances related to the immovable properties of Kashmiri migrants.

The portal named “Kashmir Migrants Immovable Properties” would entertain the complaints by Kashmiri migrants about encroachment, distress sale, or other grievances regarding property in the erstwhile state.

According to the official handout, an application filed on the portal will be disposed of in a fixed time frame under the Public Services Guarantee Act, 2011, by the revenue department.

Taking on a micro-blogging site, the official twitter handle of the Deputy Commissioner Office said that the quality of disposal is being monitored.

However, DC Srinagar Aijaz Asad didn’t divulge further any information about the matter owing to time restraints.

“I am on another assignment right now, so I will revert on this matter later,” Asad told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).

On August 8, the government took strict measures to recover illegally occupied or encroached land of migrant properties in the Valley.

According to an order issued by the principal secretary to the government Shaleen Kabra, the competent authorities shall prepare the details of immovable property of migrants and take appropriate action to evict unauthorised occupant of such migrant property.

“The competent authority shall undertake survey, field verification of migrant properties and update all registers within a period of 15 days and submit compliance reports to the Divisional Commissioner,” the order reads.

Meanwhile, sources told KNO that the authorities are minutely investigating all the complaints after some fake complaints were registered on the portal.

“There were some complaints that people had filed. So, authorities are very cautious while dealing with each case,” sources said—(KNO)
