BANDIPORA, Mar 8: Showing the state of affairs in the education department, the Boys Middle school in Sonarwani  area of Bandipora district has only four rooms for nine classes of the institution.

Besides the lack of basic facilities the people from locality throw garbage in school grounds which not only affects the health but co-curricular activities of students in school.

Talking to the Kashmir Despatch, Iqra Manzoor a 6th class student said that the school lacks basic facilities which affects education of students in their institution.

She also said that people throw garbage in front of school ground which affects their sports activities. “For nine classes we have only four classrooms. In summers we take our classes under open sky, as it becomes tough for teachers to teach classes in a single room.”

“We have to wear mask when we take our classes in school ground.  The smell from garbage affects health of students,” she also added.

Meanwhile speaking with the Kashmir Despatch, incharge headmaster Ravi Kumar said that the school lacks basic facilities. “We have only four rooms for nine classes. In the summer we take classes in the open sky but it becomes difficult in the rain for teachers to manage two classes in a single room.”

“In 2010 under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), work on school building had been started but had not been completed yet after 13 years,” he added.

The students appealed to District Administration Bandipora to look into the matter and take strict action against the people who are throwing garbage in school grounds.
