Kupwara, Mar 05: A tragic incident occurred in the Batir gam area of Kupwara in north Kashmir, where a labourer from West Bengal lost his life in a devastating fire that broke out in a three-storey residential house on Monday night.
Reports reaching Kashmir Despatch said the fire started on the second floor of the building and quickly spread to the third floor where the labourer from West Bengal, identified as Feroz Ahmad, was sleeping.
Reports said despite efforts by fire tenders, police, and locals, the fire could not be contained in time to save the life of the labourer.
A police officer told Kashmir Despatch that the cause of the fire is still unknown. He said a case has been registered and further investigation has been initiated.
