Nocturnal gunfight rages in Kulgam

Kulgam, Oct 10 : A nocturnal gunfight broke out between militants and security forces in South Kashmir’s Kulgam village on Friday night.

An official told Kashmir Despatch that earlier on Friday late evening a joint team of Army’s 01 RR, SOG and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation at Chunigam area of Kulgam following inputs about the presence of some militants.

The officer said as soon as searching party encircled the target house, the hidding militants fired upon them thus triggering a gunfight.

A police officer told Kashmir Despatch that firing from both sides is on.

As per the sources, two militants are believed to be trapped in the area.
