Baramulla, May 24: Principal Secretary to Government, Housing and Urban Development Department Dheeraj Gupta accompanied by Director ULB and other senior functionaries today paid visit to Baramulla district where he chaired a meeting to review the overall developmental scenario of Urban areas of the district.
District Development Commissioner Baramulla Bhupinder Kumar, ADDC,JDP,ADC,PRIs, Chief Executive Officers of MCs, district and sectoral officers attended the meeting.
On the occasion, the DC briefed the meeting about the status and position of several developmental aspects associated with Urban areas through the power point presentation. He also appraised several issues and demands and sought their timely redressal for the overall development of Urban regions.
After taking a thorough review of various programmes and schemes, the Principal Secretary stressed to ensure that all the eligible beneficiaries are covered in various welfare schemes which includes PM- Awas Yojana (U), social security schemes for street vendors and others working in informal sector. He directed to ensure that the tendering process is completed upto 15th June, 2021 so that the work on these projects is initiated as early as possible.
Meanwhile, the Principal Secretary directed to ensure effective sanitation through proper waste management adding that Sanitation of our surrounding is crucial at this critical juncture emerged out of COVID-19 pandemic. He informed that all the necessities for establishing solid waste management plants in all the municipalities of the district, have been completed and the work on such projects shall be started shortly.
