Satoora-Hajin road in shambles, locals suffer

PULWAMA, Aug 2: The residents of Hajin village and its adjoining areas in Aripal tehsil of Pulwama district have expressed resentment against the authorities for failing to repair the main road in the area.
The aggrieved residents told Kashmir Despatch that they have been facing hardships with each passing day, as the road has developed potholes and ditches, and has been irking the commuters.
They said that their back to back requests to concerned authorities brought no results, as the condition of road continues to be pathetic.
One of the residents told Kashmir Despatch that incessant rains have washed away the main portions of Hajin-Satoora road, which connects around three villages with other parts of the adjoining districts.
He said: “Sumo drivers refuse to come, whenever there is an emergency in the area, as the condition of the road is bad, due to which locals suffer.”
The residents demanded that the road must be repaired at the earliest, so that locals may heave a sigh of relief. Earlier, officials in local administration had assured that the road will be repaired this year, but nothing has been done so far.
Meanwhile, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Shabir Ahmad Raina told Kashmir Despatch that the proposal pertaining to work on the said road is under submission.
In Nahir and Khasipora villages of Tral in Pulwama, the residents have said that work on Dhobiwan-Nahir road is going at snail’s pace, and demanded intervention of concerned officials into the matter.
