SOPORE, Aug 24: At least nine families were rendered homeless in a massive fire incident in which around six houses were gutted in north Kashmir’s Sopore town on Wednesday.
Reports reaching Kashmir Despatch said fire broke out from a residential house at Arampora area of Sopore.
The fire spread across the neighbouring houses and burnt down around six residential houses. Reports added that the firefighters with the help of local police played a proactive role to prevent further losses.
There were no casualties or injuries in the fire as the families managed to escape and moved to safer places, an official told Kashmir Despatch.
The official added that total six residential houses were damaged in the mishap. He further said that two houses were gutted completely while four residential houses were partially damaged. The official said the cause of the fire is said to be short-circuit.
The officer identified all fire victims as Aijaz Ahmed Ahangar son of Late Ghulam Mohammad Ahangar, Javeed Ahmed Ahangar son of Late Ghulam Mohammad Ahangar, Mohammad Younus Najar Son of Late Ghulam-ud-din Najar, Ghulam Rasool Najar, Nisar Ahmad Ahangar son of Late Abdul Ahad Ahangar, Mohammad Ramzan Sofi son of Late Mohammad Jamal Sofi, Ghulam Nabi Ahangar son of Ghulam Mohammad Ahangar, Mohammad Akbar Gilkar son of Late Ghulam Nabi Gilkar, Abdul Aziz Gilkar son of Late Ghulam Nabi Ahangar all residents of Lal Bab Sahab Sopore.
The actual loss incurred during the inferno was yet to be assessed, the officer added further.
