‘Pathan’ to Mark the First Show, LG to Inaugurate Cinema

Baramulla, a town in the northern region of Kashmir, is all set to witness the resurgence of cinema after a 33-year gap. The long wait for movie enthusiasts will finally come to an end as the district prepares to open its doors to a brand-new cinema hall. With much excitement and anticipation, the first show at the cinema will feature the highly anticipated film ‘Pathan’.
Sources told Kashmir Despatch, that the revival of cinema in Baramulla is seen as a significant development that will provide a much-needed source of entertainment for the locals.
For over three decades, the absence of a cinema hall left residents with limited options for recreational activities.
The reopening of the cinema is expected to rekindle the joy and excitement associated with the big-screen experience in this northern district of Kashmir.
The inaugural show of ‘Pathan’, starring popular Bollywood actors, promises to be a grand affair.
Notably, this action thriller has generated a great buzz nationwide, and the citizens of Baramulla can now be a part of the film’s grand opening.
Viewers can expect a memorable cinematic experience as they immerse themselves in the captivating storyline and stellar performances.
To mark this momentous occasion, the inauguration of the cinema will be graced by the presence of the Lieutenant Governor of Union Territory, Manoj Sinha.
A civil officer told Kashmir Despatch that LG’s inauguration of the recently converted sherwani hall into a cinema will showcase the administration’s commitment to promoting cultural activities and entertainment opportunities in the district.
“Baramulla’s revival of the cinema after 33 years is not only a means of entertainment but also a positive development for the town’s social and economic growth,” said social activist Touseef Raina.
He said the cinema is expected to create employment opportunities and boost the local economy through increased footfall and spending at nearby businesses.
As the stage is set and the countdown begins, Baramulla eagerly awaits the cinema’s reopening.
The sound of clapping, laughter, and awe-inspired gasps will once again fill the air, breathing new life into the town’s cinematic culture.

Pertinently, After thirty years, cinemas returned to Kashmir in September of last year when Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha opened the state’s first multiplex in Srinagar’s Sonwar neighborhood.
The Summer capital of Kashmir, Srinagar, was running 10 theaters against itself in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir in the 1990s until militant outfit Allah Tigers threatened and later put a ban.
The ban was followed by the burning down of almost all 10 cinemas in Kashmir’s city by militant groups.
Some of the cinemas later after the 1990s were turned into security camps, and one was turned into a hospital.
