Srinagar, Aug. 1: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday chaired a high-level security review meeting and directed authorities to review safety measures for non-local workers across Jammu and Kashmir following the recent terror attack in Kulgam that claimed the lives of two migrant labourers.
During the meeting, the Lieutenant Governor instructed all Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) to conduct a comprehensive review of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in place for the protection of labourers from outside the Union Territory.
He also directed employers to ensure that all non-local workers are covered under insurance schemes and that their details are properly registered with the local police and district administration to strengthen their safety and security.
Emphasising a firm response to terrorism, Sinha called on security agencies to intensify precise and high-impact anti-terror operations aimed at neutralising terrorists and dismantling their support networks. He also reviewed the overall security situation in Jammu and Kashmir and discussed measures to further strengthen the security grid.
Referring to the Kulgam attack, the Lieutenant Governor directed officials to ensure dignified last rites for the victims and extend all possible assistance to their bereaved families. Security arrangements for the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra also came under review, with directions issued to maintain robust security for the annual pilgrimage.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, senior civil administration officials, police officers, Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners and SSPs from across Jammu and Kashmir.
