Stresses the need for settling the issue as per UN resolutions
Srinagar, September 28, : After Turkey and Pakistan, China has also raised Kashmir issue in United Nations and said that no actions should be taken that would unilaterally change the status quo.
According to news agency, China told the General Assembly that the issue should be resolved peacefully and properly addressed in accordance with the UN Charter, Security Council resolutions and bilateral agreements. It also stressed that no actions should be taken that would unilaterally change the status quo.
Addressing UN General Assembly on Friday, State Councilor and Foreign Minister of China Wang Yi said, “The Kashmir issue, a dispute left from the past, should be peacefully and properly addressed in accordance with the UN Charter, Security Council resolutions and bilateral agreement.”
“No actions that would unilaterally change the status quo should be taken. China hopes that as a neighbour of both India and Pakistan, to see the dispute effectively managed and stability restored to the relationship between the two sides”, Foreign Minister Wang added. (CNS)
