Sopore, Jab 01 : The agriculture department’s team seized approximately 220 bags of counterfeit fertilizers in the Sadipora area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday.
Official sources told Kashmir Despatch, acting on specific information, a team led by the director of agriculture, along with the president of the Fruit Mandi, conducted a raid at Sadipora bypass.
During the operation, the team successfully confiscated around 220 bags of fake fertilizers.
Notably, Fayaz Malik, President of the Kashmir Fruit Growers and Dealers Association Fruit Mandi, Sopore, had previously urged the authorities to charge dealers of fake fertilizers and pesticides under the Public Safety Act (PSA).
Malik emphasized that Kashmiri apples are the top-selling apples in the country, known for their high production and quality. He further stated that with the right government support, Kashmiri growers can ensure a year-round supply of top-quality apples throughout India.
