SRINAGAR, July 3: The administration has issued an important advisory for pilgrims intending to undertake the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026, urging devotees to strictly adhere to the prescribed registration process and travel only on their allotted dates to ensure the safe and smooth conduct of the annual pilgrimage.
The advisory states that, in compliance with directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court, a maximum daily limit has been fixed for the number of pilgrims allowed on the Yatra route. Authorities emphasized that strict adherence to this daily ceiling is mandatory to safeguard pilgrims and facilitate efficient management of the pilgrimage.
To minimize inconvenience, advance registration for the Yatra was opened well before the commencement of the pilgrimage through designated bank branches across the country as well as online platforms. According to the administration, a large number of pilgrims have already availed themselves of the advance registration facility.
Officials, however, clarified that the availability of Tatkal (on-the-spot) registration remains extremely limited. As a result, pilgrims have been advised not to travel to Jammu and Kashmir without obtaining advance registration, as it is not feasible to accommodate thousands of unregistered devotees through the limited Tatkal quota.
The administration has appealed to pilgrims arriving without registration to wait for their turn and undertake the pilgrimage only on the date allotted by the authorities. It reiterated that every registered pilgrim will be provided an opportunity to perform the Yatra, but only in accordance with the prescribed procedures and the available daily capacity.
Authorities also expressed concern over instances of registered pilgrims reaching Jammu and Kashmir before their scheduled travel dates. They made it clear that no pilgrim will be permitted to proceed on the Yatra before the date mentioned on their registration permit, regardless of when they arrive in the Union Territory.
Pilgrims have, therefore, been urged to plan their journey strictly in accordance with their allotted travel dates to avoid inconvenience and unnecessary congestion at transit points.
Reaffirming its commitment to facilitating a safe and orderly pilgrimage for all devotees, the administration appealed for patience and cooperation from pilgrims. It emphasized that maintaining discipline and following the established procedures are essential to ensuring the safety, security, and smooth conduct of the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026.
