Srinagar: Islamia College of Science and Commerce (ICSC) Srinagar has announced an offline mode of examination for the final year-end semester, which has left many students distressed.
One of the students told Kashmir Despatch that in a situation where so many students or the family members of students have tested positive for the deadly virus, the collage is pressing for the offline examination while all the students are demanding online examinations”.
He added, “To discuss the same issue and to bring the genuine concerns of the students to the college administrations, the CR community batch 2017 of Islamia College on behalf of all the students went to the Principal to discuss the seriousness of the issues. However, we were left shocked by the Principal’s response”.
As per the student, the principal on being asked to postpone the exam as many pupils and their family facing the Covid-19 situation to which they were told that those students shall wait and can sit in bi-annual exams.
Also as per the students, the principal downplayed any misadventure if students get infected with Covid-19 during exams and asked pupils to take responsibility.While as per the students, the principal did not answer, when he was asked about the transport facility.
“The response will not help in any way, but this clearly shows that if anyone turns positive, the blame will be put on students because they will be signing a declaration before giving exams. This clearly shows that college will not take the responsibilities of any such misadventures”, said one of the students who met Principal.
We are in stress and we want answers from higher education officials in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory on the issue to solve the problem as soon as possible, students said.
