KATHUA, Sept 23: Apni Party today started its political activities by holding the first public meeting in Kathua in which large numbers of locals raised their voice against Toll Plazas on Jammu-Pathankot Highway and underdevelopment in Schedule Caste areas.

The meeting was organised by Nagesh Kumar and Sachin Bhardwaj in which the participants expressed their faith in the leadership of Party President Syed Mohammed Altaf Bukhari and extended their support to the Party.

While speaking on the occasion, Apni Party General Secretary Vijay Bakaya said the Apni Party had moved from strength to strength since it was formed on March 8, 2020 and he also hoped that those who were present would spread the message of the Party that “it would shun divisive politics and emotional slogans and take the State on the road to development and would remain close to the people at all times.”

Bakaya emphasized that the Apni Party had come into being at a time when there was a political vacuum to raise the voice of the people.
He hoped that the Party would receive the support of all those who had joined it so far so that it could fulfill its vision of a prosperous and peaceful UT

Meanwhile, Apni Party Provincial President and Former Minister Manjit Singh praised Nagesh Kumar and Sachin Bhardwaj for organizing the impressive programme.

Speaking on the occasion, the Former Minister Manjit Singh said that “We will not mislead the people with emotional sloganeering. Our motive is to promote brotherhood and unity among the people.”

He said that the Party stands for equal development and employment opportunities in J&K. Speaking in reference to the concerns of locals, Manjit Singh said that there was strong resentment against the Toll Plazas in Kathua and Samba districts and the Government should look into the grievances of the locals.

Manjit Singh has also appealed to the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to personally look into the issue before it is too late. Meanwhile, Ex-MLA Prem Lal of Hiranagar said that Kathua lacks developmental activities.

While addressing the audience, Ex-Prem Lal and Ex-MLA Faqir Nath stated that they had joined the party sometime back after having been convinced that the vision of Altaf Bukhari and other members was progressive.
“It was for pragmatic politics and for an egalitarian society,” they added.

They said that “The Apni Party is committed for the upliftment of the Schedule Caste community and development in their localities. The condition of Dalits is miserable and the Government should focus.”
