Aseem XI’s Triumph: Conquering the Lolab Strikers in a Friendship League Face-off

In a thrilling cricket match held on Kargil Vijay Diwas Rajat Jayanti, Aseem XI achieved a well-deserved victory over the Lolab Strikers in the second game of the cricket friendship league.

The league, organized by the Indian Army in collaboration with the Aseem Foundation, aims to promote friendship and sportsmanship.

This victory marks the first win for the visiting team, Aseem XI, in the three-match friendship league after a closely contested first game in Sopore.

The match took place in Kupwara district in north Kashmir.

Aseem XI won the toss and elected to field first, allowing the Lolab Strikers to showcase their impressive batting skills and set a challenging target of 65 runs. However, Aseem XI demonstrated exceptional teamwork and displayed a strong performance, ultimately emerging victorious in a closely contested match.

The enthusiastic support from the spectators reflects the vibrant sports culture in Kashmir and the encouragement for women’s participation in sports. This initiative has significantly empowered the women cricketers of Jammu and Kashmir, providing them with a platform to display their talent and skills.

Players and locals have expressed their appreciation for the efforts of the Indian Army and the Aseem Foundation, Pune, and have expressed their desire for similar tournaments in the future. These tournaments not only encourage local players but also help them compete at the national level, promoting growth and development.

The Chief Guest of the event, Col Anupam Hajela, the Commanding Officer of 28 Rashtriya Battalion, witnessed the matches and motivated the cricket teams, fostering excellence at both the local and national levels through the collective support of the Indian Army.

The organizers, participating teams, and spectators paid heartfelt tributes to the brave soldiers who fought in the Kargil War, adding a sense of patriotism and remembrance to the event. The event was attended by civil dignitaries, government officials, as well as a large number of PRIs, youth, students, and locals from the adjoining areas of Lolab.

Overall, the cricket friendship league has not only brought together sports enthusiasts but also celebrated the spirit of teamwork, competition, and tribute to our heroes.
