Sopore: An effective operation was carried out in Sopore town as part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Abhiyan, a nationwide initiative to combat substance abuse.
Reema Khateeb, Assistant Drug Control Officer for Baramulla/Kupwara MTR was leading the team of Drug Control Officers from Baramulla.
During the drive, it was observed that the majority of retail shops in the main town of Sopore had fully complied by installing CCTV cameras and adopting computerized billing systems. Moreover, these shops had taken the commendable step of stocking NRX drugs separately and securely.
While most shops fulfilled the requirements, a few were found lacking computerized billing systems. These shops were promptly instructed to install the necessary systems within a week’s time.
The efforts of the chemists’ fraternity in Sopore received accolades from the Assistant Drug Control Officer. The ADC specifically commended their dedication to implementing CCTV cameras and computerized billing, recognizing their crucial role in curbing substance abuse. She emphasized that similar drives will be extended to other areas within the district.
The Assistant Drug Control Officer expressed gratitude towards the chemists and druggists associated with the Sopore region, acknowledging their unwavering commitment and hard work. Their contributions in fostering a drug-free environment and ensuring the safety and transparency of their businesses were highly appreciated.
