The people of Jammu and Kashmir are face to face with innumerable problems. One of the problem is the lackadaisical attitude of its administration. If the government has nothing concrete to offer to its striking employees for that matter the daily rated workers, causal labourers, ITI workers and land donors on urgent basis, at least its administration can offer them solidarity in their rightful cause.
Negotiations are very important to deal with any crisis. For the last five days the daily rated workers of Public Health Engineering department are on strike both in Jammu and Srinagar districts. This has resulted into a lot of inconvenience to the general public. Taps are dry in most parts of Jammu district so in many areas of Srinagar also.
The demands put forth by these striking daily rated workers are simple. Regularization after giving their most of the life in the department and release of their pending wages! Post abrogation of Article 370, the leadership of the country had assured that people of Jammu and Kashmir will see a new era of development and prosperity.
What sort of prosperity should one believe in when the people at the helm of affairs are unable to realize the difficulties faced by the causal and daily rated workers who are the backbone of this government?
These striking workers are not able to pay the fee of their school going children. They are not in position to afford quality healthcare or food for their families. This is all because of the apathetic attitude of the successive governments in Jammu and Kashmir which led to their exploitation.
Need of the hour is that the present dispensation in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir take a call on the matter and resolve all their grievances in the larger interests of general public.
