Bandipora doctor dies of COVID-19

Srinagar, 28 July : A young doctor from Sumbal sub-division of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district died of Covid-19 on Tuesday morning.

News agency KDC reported that a doctor idenfied as Shabir Ahmad Malik a resident of Sumbal Bandipora contracted COVID-19 infection while treating patients in Gurez sector where he was currently posted.

His first sample was taken for testing and came out positive on 04 July last month, however only after 3 days he was again tested and the results came out to be negative, that gave him a sigh of relief.

After testing negative he was finally discharged on 15 June and was currently at his home.

Suddenly, yesterday he developed symptoms, hemoptysis with sudden fall in oxygen saturation and was shifted to SKIMS soura where his X-ray was done that showed bilateral pneumonia and died on Tuesday morning.

The death of Shabir has sent shock waves across the Valley. He is survived by his two little kids and a wife.(KDC)
