As per Kashmir Despatch, after joining the Army in 2014, Sepoy Waseem Ahmad Bhat not only displayed immense dedication towards the nation but also had a remarkable talent in football. He was among the three soldiers who lost their lives in the Kulgam Gunfight on Friday night. However, fate dealt a cruel blow as he, along with two other soldiers, lost their lives during the intense gunfight in Kulgam on Friday night, according to Kashmir Despatch.
News of his selfless sacrifice has deeply affected the Bandipora district, filling its residents with a profound mix of emotions, pride, and grief. They stand united in paying tribute to his valor and dedication to safeguarding the country.
Tragedy strikes even harder as Bhat had recently tied the knot, and his wife is now carrying their child, eagerly awaiting their little one’s arrival. The news has left her in a state of profound sorrow and shock.

The Army, in a tweet, officially confirmed the loss of three soldiers in “Operation Halan Kulgam.” The operation was launched based on specific intelligence about the presence of terrorists in the higher reaches of Halan in Kulgam. During the encounter with the terrorists, three personnel sustained injuries and eventually succumbed to them. The Army’s Srinagar-based Chinar Corps stated that search operations are ongoing.
