Bandipora, Mar. 16: After remaining closed during the harsh winter months, the Gurez Bandipora road was officially inaugurated today, marking the beginning of the spring season.

The road, which connects the remote Gurez valley with the rest of the Kashmir Valley, was closed in January due to heavy snowfall and adverse weather conditions. The closure of the road had left the residents of Gurez cut off from the rest of the world with no access to essential supplies or medical facilities.

Speaking with reporters on the sidelines of the induction ceremony, DG Border Roads Organization Rajiv Choudary said that Gurez and Zojila roads are important in terms of essential medical and educational reasons. “The Gurez road had been opened in a record time. After remaining closed for 58 days, the road is finally open for traffic movement.”

The reopening of the road was celebrated with much fanfare, with local residents expressing their joy and gratitude towards the government for completing the necessary repairs and restoration work.

“I am very happy that the road has finally been reopened. “It was a difficult time for us during the winter months, but now we can finally breathe a sigh of relief,” Fahmeeda Akhter DDC Gurez,

The inauguration ceremony was attended by DG BRO Rajiv Choudary and several officials from 56 RCC Beacon, BSF, the Army, and the District Administration, who spoke about the importance of the road for the region’s development and growth.

“The reopening of the Gurez Bandipora road is a significant milestone for the region.” “It will not only provide better access to essential services but will also boost economic growth and tourism in the area,” officials said.

“It was the first time in the last 50 years the road was opened for traffic movement in the middle of March. Beacon had worked 24 hours a day to open the road early for the residents,” locals said.

The Gurez Valley is known for its picturesque landscapes and natural beauty and is a popular tourist destination. The reopening of the road is expected to attract a significant number of tourists to the region, providing a much-needed boost to the local economy.

The inauguration of the Gurez Bandipora Road has been welcomed by people from all walks of life, who hope that it will mark the beginning of a new era of growth and prosperity for the region.
