Riffat Jan has two sons, and on 14 March, 2023 after an argument with her in-laws, she stormed out of her home and has been missing since.
While speaking with Kashmir Despatch, Bashir Ahmad Khan, a resident of Mattan, Anantnag and the father of the missing women said that they suspect that their daughter has done something bad to herself at the instigation of her inlaws.
He further said that have been looking for their daughter from last three days and have not been able to locate her.
“On the morning of 14 March, she called us and said that she had an argument with the inlaws. Afterwards, she had left the home of her in-laws in Shopian and has been missing since. She had left her phone at home, and whenever we called, her son picked the call,” Bashir Ahmad added further.
The father of Riffat Jan said further that they have looked for her everywhere, in every possible place, but have not been able to locate her.
“Last night, we filed a missing report with police station Shopian but have not received the due help in tracing her. We suspect that she might have committed suicide,” Riffat Jan’s brother said while speaking with Kashmir Despatch.
In conversation with Kashmir Despatch, SHO Shopian said that “the investigation has been launched and the police parties have been dispatched to every possible place where we suspect that she might have went. However, her husband is not suspected of having committed any manner of untoward act.”
