Baramulla, April 25: The Baramulla Girls Volleyball Championship 2026, supported by the Indian Army, got underway on April 22 at the Shaukat Ali Indoor Stadium, Khwajabagh, witnessing enthusiastic participation from teams across Baramulla district.
The championship has brought together promising young female volleyball players from different parts of the district, offering them a competitive platform to display their talent, skill, and sportsmanship. The event highlights a growing interest in volleyball among girls and reflects a positive shift towards increased participation of young women in sports.
On Saturday, league matches were conducted with six teams competing in Pool A and Pool B. The matches were marked by high energy, strong teamwork, and a competitive spirit, with players showcasing determination and impressive performances throughout.
A large number of spectators, including more than 250 girl students, were present at the venue, cheering enthusiastically for the teams. Their presence added to the lively atmosphere and boosted the morale of the players.
Organizers said the championship aims to promote sports culture in the district while encouraging greater participation of girls in volleyball. They emphasized that such initiatives play an important role in engaging youth in constructive activities and in building confidence, discipline, and team spirit.
The tournament will continue in the coming days with further league fixtures and knockout rounds, promising exciting contests as young athletes compete for top honours.
