305 drug peddlers held, properties worth 68 lacs freezed this year sofar

Baramulla, August 01 : In the past seven months, Baramulla Police in north Kashmir have apprehended a total of 305 drug peddlers.
The police have been actively cracking down on the illegal drug trade, resulting in a significant number of arrests.
As part of their efforts to combat the drug menace, properties worth 68 lacs have also been freezed.
This demonstrates the determination of the police to curb the drug trade and protect the community from its harmful effects.
As per the official data available with Kashmir Despatch, the War Against Drugs has registered 198 total cases up to July 2023, and among such cases, 305 persons were arrested.
The data further reads that four numbers of properties have been frozen up to July 2023, including two houses, two vehicles, and cash worth 41.72 lacs, which is equal to 68.05 lacs.
As per the summary of contraband seized, including Brown sugar 2.625 kg (3.43 crores),, heroin 4.205 kg (5.83 crores), Charas 9.453 kg (46.76 lacs),, Poppy straw/cannabis powder 131.02 kg (85.88 lacs), Cash siezed 1.13 crores, and 23 vehicles, the total value including siezed cash was 11 crores, 71 lacs, and 64 thousand.
Meanwhile, The senior superintendent of police, Baramulla Amud Ashok Nagpure, told Kashmir Despatch that the war on drugs will continue until the drug menace is completely eradicated in the north Kashmir district.
He said the police are determined to stop drugs from entering Jammu and Kashmir and will continue to use all available resources to do so.
