Issues Advisory to Social Media Users
Baramulla, August 23 : Police in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district claimed to have taken cognizance of a missing girl case reported on August 16, 2024, and have issued an advisory to social media users in the region.
Police spokesman in a details said, a missing person report was filed at the Kreeri police station on August 16, 2024, regarding the disappearance of a young girl, the daughter of one Gh Mohi-ud-din Sheik. However, it has now been learned that on August 19, 2024, the said girl converted to a different religion and married one Sagar Pradeep Singh of Navi Mumbai.
The Baramulla district police have registered a case under the relevant sections of the Ranbir Penal Code (BNS) and have initiated an investigation into the matter.
The district police’s cyber patrol unit has noticed that several miscreants and anti-social elements are creating and sharing posts that attempt to use this incident to cause disturbance in the region. Sharing content that is misleading or inflammatory violates various laws and will lead to strict legal action, including the initiation of criminal proceedings.
In response, the Baramulla police have issued an advisory to all social media users, urging them not to share any misleading or inflammatory content about this incident. If such content has already been shared or reposted, the police have advised users to delete it immediately.
