A recent news report circulated by several journalists and media outlets as a “web feed” has falsely claimed that Abdul Ghani Rather was hit by an army vehicle. The Indian Army has issued a statement refuting these allegations, calling them “malicious and incorrect.”
According to the Army’s statement, a tragic accident occurred in Baramulla involving Abdul Ghani and another individual riding a scooty (Registration No. JK01 T 7661). The driver reportedly lost control while navigating through oncoming traffic, causing Ghani to fall and sustain a fatal head injury. Unfortunately, Ghani was not wearing a helmet at the time. He was rushed to GMC Baramulla but was declared dead upon arrival. The other individual involved fled the scene, and their whereabouts remain unknown.
The Army clarified that neither Ghani nor the scooty came into contact with any military vehicle, contrary to the misleading reports. Authorities are investigating the incident further.
