Bodies of Rajouri Youth to Be Exhumed and handed over to families: IGP Kashmir

Srinagar, Sep 30: IG Kashmir on Wednesday admitted that the bodies of slain Rajouri youth who were killed in Amshipora, Shopian in a “Fake Encounter” on July 18 this year, will be exhumed and handed over their families after following the proper legal formalities while as district administration Rajouri has called the families of slain for consultation tomorrow.

On July 18, police in a statement Army had said that three militants were killed in gunfight with joint team of police, army and CRPF in Shopian district on an input by army.

“On a specific input by 62RR about presence of (militants) in village Amshipora area, an operation was launched by them in the area,” a police spokesperson had said.

“Since DNA samples of the deceased matched with their families, their bodies will be exhumed and handed over to families after due process of law,”
The Army had ordered a Court of Inquiry into the encounter last month on September 18, admitted the army had not followed “the If’s and Buts’ of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) as approved by the Hon’ble Supreme Court during the operation.
