Srinagar, Jan 24 : The causal labourers and daily wagers, working in different departments Friday lamented the delay in fulfilling the promises made by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi vis-à-vis their services.

Addressing a presser today at Kashmir Press Club, president of Jammu and Kashmir Casual labourers and Daily Wagers Forum (JKCLDWF) Sajad Ahmad Parray said that it was disappointing the promises made by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi vis-à-vis casual labourers and daily wagers have not been fulfilled so far.

“The Prime Minister after the abrogation of Article 370 promised regularization of the jobs of casual labourers and daily wagers. But, so far five months elapsed and no concrete steps have been taken in this regard so far,” Parray added as per the wire service.

He further stated that they were pinning hope that Union Ministers who visited Kashmir in last couple of days would announce something soothing for the casual labourers, but unfortunately, they (Union Ministers) too maintained silence in this regard, thus leaving the non-regularized employees to lurch at large.

Parray said that the casual labourers and daily wagers have been serving in various department from last couple of decades and have been performing 85 per cent works of the department.

“Despite working tirelessly, we are being pushed to the wall. Our children are suffering for proper education. The children of casual labourers and daily wagers have been facing tough times in every aspect due to the non-seriousness of successive regimes so far, who failed address the genuine issues of over 60000 employees,” he added.

They demanded the central government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to look into the matter and fulfill the promises at an earliest so that the casual labourers and daily wagers could heave a sigh of relief. (KNO)
