Jammu, June 27th: Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General N.S. Raja Subramani on Saturday undertook his first official visit to Jammu and Kashmir, carrying out a comprehensive assessment of the security situation along the Line of Control (LoC) and reviewing the Army’s preparedness ahead of the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.
At the Northern Command Headquarters in Udhampur and the XVI Corps Headquarters in Nagrota, the CDS was briefed by senior military officers on the prevailing security environment, counter-terrorism operations, anti-infiltration measures, and arrangements being put in place to ensure a safe and peaceful pilgrimage.
The CDS also visited forward posts in the border districts of Rajouri and Poonch, where he interacted with troops and field commanders. He reviewed deployment along the LoC, assessed operational readiness, and received updates on recent infiltration attempts and the Army’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the anti-infiltration grid.
