SRINAGAR, June 27, 2026: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday said that India’s civilisational strength is rooted in its diversity, tradition of dialogue, and shared cultural heritage.
He made the remarks while addressing an event in Srinagar, where he highlighted that India’s long historical journey has been shaped by coexistence of different faiths, ideas, and knowledge systems.
Sinha said that India has historically functioned as a civilisational space where diversity has been a defining feature rather than a challenge. He added that dialogue and mutual respect among communities have helped strengthen the country’s social and cultural fabric over centuries.
The Lieutenant Governor also underscored Kashmir’s historical role as a centre of learning and intellectual exchange, noting that the region contributed significantly to India’s broader knowledge traditions and cultural evolution.
He said that the shared heritage between different regions and institutions of learning such as ancient centres of scholarship has continued to influence India’s identity as a knowledge-driven civilisation.
Sinha further stated that preserving this civilisational ethos is essential for strengthening national unity and guiding future generations towards inclusive development.
He stressed that India’s global identity is shaped not only by its economic and political growth but also by its cultural depth, philosophical traditions, and emphasis on harmony.
The event concluded with a call for continued efforts to promote cultural understanding and strengthen the values of unity in diversity.
