Clarification on Electoral Rolls

Date:

The rumour mills that had pushed the panic button among the people of J&K about inclusion of non-state residents in the impending Assembly Elections has been out rightly debunked by the timely clarification issued by the government.

The department of information unequivocally contended these baseless claims while saying that certain vested interests are trying to disseminate wrong information. It also assured that only 18+ new voters are being enrolled to facilitate their right to vote.

It also deflated the rumours about induction of 25 lakh new voters in the revised electoral rolls in J&K terming it a misrepresentation of facts.

This clarification has smashed the all party meeting called by former chief minister Farooq Abdullah who had hoped to claim back the title of defacto supreme leader of J&K.

Hours after this elucidation on part of the government, many native parties extended gratitude to the Central Government for reassuring the general public in J&K.

The timely clarification made by the government has dashed the hopes of PAGD that had pulled socks to make this non-issue as a bone of contention in order to gather some political mileage besides public sympathy through casting aspersions on a routine pre-poll exercise.

It seems that the dreams of PAGD leaders and the much hyped Monday’s all party meet called by Farooq Abdullah will be ceremonial that will lack political gravity and seriousness.
