New Delhi, Aug 1: In a relief for hotels, restaurants and other commercial establishments, oil marketing companies (OMCs) on Saturday reduced the price of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders by ₹192 with effect from August 1. However, aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices have been increased by ₹5 per litre, raising operational costs for airlines.
Following the revision, a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi will now cost ₹2,738, down from ₹2,930. This marks the second consecutive monthly reduction in commercial LPG prices after a cut announced in July.
The price cut applies only to commercial LPG cylinders used by businesses such as hotels, restaurants, caterers and street food vendors. There is no change in the price of 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinders, providing no additional relief to household consumers.
Meanwhile, the price of aviation turbine fuel has been increased by ₹5 per litre, taking the rate for domestic airlines to around ₹115 per litre. ATF accounts for nearly 35–40 per cent of an airline’s operating expenses, and the latest hike is expected to increase fuel costs for carriers, although its impact on airfares will depend on market demand and airline pricing strategies.
The revisions come amid fluctuations in global crude oil prices and ongoing geopolitical developments that continue to influence international energy markets.
